Presenting the subject of hypnosis in medicine at Oxford Brookes University. The audience consisted of university tutors, NHS professionals and business managers.
This was linked into a PTEP course delivered by a colleague from NAEMT and it afforded myself and Andrew Newton a great opportunity to interject the value and use of structured language patterns, switching from nocebic to placebo communication
In 2023, Andy, Vinny and myself presented in the main hall at a National Paramedic Conference in Nottingham. Here we discussed the evidence regarding the Kansas study and the use of hypnotic statements utilised in emergency patients in the late 1970's, including its application in some aspects of todays modern medicine & dentistry.
Special emphasis was made in relation to emergency patients who are experiencing trance equivalent states (TES) and the reasons for using positive placebo language in their management.
Lecturing on pain management & hypnosis to a cohort of hypnotherapists on a weekend retreat in the Derbyshire Dales. Understanding pain, both acute and chronic can be challenging.
Pain presentation, its mechanisms and how the mind processes pain can also be challenging but their are ways in which the mind can be actively deployed to help reduce and manage these symptoms.
