Hypnotherapy Supervision

Hypnotherapy Supervision
Supervision provides:
An opportunity, to talk, to be heard, to identify and to learn.
Supervision is:
Supportive, educational, developmental, engaging, reflective, empowering, goal setting and enhancing ethical practice.
Supervision, coaching and mentoring achieve all of these and much, more!

What is supervision
Supervision provides an educational and development framework providing a safe and confidential space for a supervisee to review and reflect on their work while under the guidance and support of a qualified supervisor. It is designed to encourage best practice in both business, therapeutic application and the wellbeing of the supervisee. Crucially, it can identify barriers to advancement, potential pitfalls, risk analysis and red flags ensuring the supervisee remains safe and ethical in practice.
Why is supervision important
Supervision is a mandatory requirement for all hypnotherapists providing Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and is an important way of keeping up to date with the advances in clinical science, neuroscience and continuous evidence-based studies in hypnotherapy around the world. It is also a powerful tool in helping you to build your business, understand marketing and advertising etc....
Who requires supervision
All newly qualified NCH hypnotherapists are required to undertake 3 years of supervision to provide the support and guidance needed to achieving full accreditation through an accreditation process. Existing and qualified NCH hypnotherapists require supervision to remain on an approved register.
I can provide supervision for hypnotherapists belonging to other professional organisations. But please check with your professional organisation to gain their approval.
My supervision methodology
I have been a clinical NHS tutor and supervisor for many years and I hold a wealth of educational experience in this topic. Having an understanding of personalities and learning abilities is essential when guiding students or established professionals along their career paths. There are many models to choose from in supervision, some will fit supervisees and others won’t, its about finding that balance. Supervision has elements of coaching and mentoring and I myself have always adopted a style of “Person Centred Therapy” (PCT) advocated by Carl Rodgers. Learning is a two way process!

How is supervision undertaken
We undertake our supervision sessions on a face-to-face basis in our clinic or on line via zoom or teams. Ideally, the preference depends on you and your location in the world.
If you would like supervision please get in touch.
Frequently Asked Questions
Typical areas that supervision can cover
Primarily any concerns that you may have - Client cases, paying attention to GDPR guidelines - Business development Therapeutic development - Wellbeing issues - Ethical advertising - Reflective practice - Continuous Professional Development.
How is a supervision session structured
Supervision can be in person face to face level or via a platform such as Zoom or Teams etc… We will both agree a contract with each other and following this I will n a send the appropriate documentation to the supervisee who will complete it and return it 3 days prior to our session. On conclusion I will write up the details of our meeting in a supervisee’s log.
What is Solution Focused Supervision
A client solution focused technique allows the supervisee to search and locate unidentified personal strengths and skills. This model draws out successes and the creative insight over any potential problem or weakness. It requires active engagement from the supervisee.
What is coaching
Coaching is provided by an experienced person who has knowledge of their profession and who is able to provide guidance, support and encouragement to the person being coached. Coaching will utilise the creation of smart goal setting by exploring the client’s values and beliefs, offering support and creating action plans.
Accreditation Reports
I will keep a log and written summary of our meetings and when required I can write a report for newly qualified NCH hypnotherapists to gain their accreditation if the criteria set by their organisation has been achieved. I can also write a report for your professional organisation if you are not with the NCH. Additional fees are required for these and other requested reports.
